Miracles Are Immediate. Healing Takes Time.
You’ve probably heard me say this at the end of every podcast:
“Miracles are immediate. Healing takes time.”
But what does that really mean?
Is it just a nice phrase to close out an episode? Or is it a truth that can completely shift how you think about gut health, chronic symptoms, and your entire healing journey?
Today, I want to break it down. Because if you’ve ever wondered why healing feels so slow—even when you’re doing everything “right”—this post is for you.
Why I Started Saying “Miracles Are Immediate. Healing Takes Time.”
When I first opened my clinic in Ann Arbor, Michigan, almost every client asked the same questions:
-
How many sessions will this take?
-
What should I expect after today?
-
How long until I get better?
Great questions. Fair questions. But here’s the problem: there isn’t one answer.
Sometimes, people walk out of my clinic after one session and feel like new humans. Symptoms vanish. Energy comes back. The pain disappears. That’s a miracle. And yes—those happen.
But most of the time? Healing takes time.
Just like a cut on your arm doesn’t disappear overnight, chronic health problems don’t reverse in a week. If you break a bone, you can do all the right things—cast it, rest it, ice it—but it will still take weeks or months.
Healing is a process.
And that’s what most people forget when they start a gut healing journey.

The Trap of the “One Fix”
When I was sick, I obsessed over finding the one thing that would fix me.
-
One food.
-
One supplement.
-
One diet.
-
One yoga routine.
-
One miracle probiotic.
If I just found the thing, I thought, everything would fall into place.
But here’s the truth no one on Google tells you: by the time you have chronic symptoms, it’s never just one thing.
Bloating. Constipation. Fatigue. Anxiety. Brain fog. Insomnia. Hormone swings. IBS. You name it. These symptoms are signals. And they almost always come from a cluster of problems.
That’s why you can’t meditate your way out of mold exposure.
You can’t probiotic your way out of chronic infections.
You can’t yoga your way out of dysbiosis.
You need to identify the cluster. And you need to address it root by root.
The Titanic Analogy: Why Healing Feels So Hard
Let’s make this real with a picture you won’t forget.
You are the Titanic. Beautiful. Strong. Full of energy. Built to last.
And then—you hit an iceberg.
That iceberg could be:
-
A major stress event (divorce, death, job loss).
-
A health event (surgery, pregnancy, appendicitis).
-
A hidden exposure (mold, parasites, infections).
The iceberg = the event.
The hole in your ship = the injury.
The water pouring in = the symptoms.
Now, what do most people do? They patch the hole. They Google “gut health hacks.” They try yoga, meditation, probiotics, diet changes. And yes—it helps. But the water is still inside the ship.
That’s why you feel “better but not great.”
That’s why symptoms linger even after the event has passed.
You don’t just need to stop new water from coming in. You need to get the old water OUT.
And that takes time.
The Three Stages of Healing
When I work with clients, I see three main stages:
-
The Event
-
You hit the iceberg.
-
A stressful job, major infection, or trauma rocks your body.
-
Symptoms appear: bloating, nausea, fatigue, constipation, insomnia.
-
-
The Injury
-
Holes form in your ship.
-
Your body shifts into survival mode.
-
You try to fix it—supplements, lifestyle changes, sleep. But it’s patchwork.
-
-
The Aftermath
-
Water damage. Mold. Electrical problems.
-
The lingering symptoms that don’t make sense.
-
The random bloating, chronic fatigue, stubborn constipation, anxiety, hormone swings.
-
Most people only deal with Stage 1 or 2. They never clear the water damage.
That’s why they stay stuck.
Why Healing Takes Longer for Some People
You might be thinking: But my friend did X and healed fast. Why am I still stuck?
Here’s why:
-
Genetics. Different genes = different stress tolerance.
-
Exposure. Maybe you’ve had hidden mold or parasites for years.
-
Duration. The longer you’ve been in stress or imbalance, the longer it takes to recover.
-
Compounding Factors. It’s rarely just diet or just sleep. It’s all of it.
So no—your body isn’t broken. You’re not failing. You’re healing on your timeline.

The Healing Process Isn’t Linear
Here’s something else most people don’t realize: healing often feels like getting worse before you get better.
Why? Because when your immune system wakes back up, it notices what’s been hiding. Parasites. Pathogens. Dysbiosis.
Suddenly, you feel flares:
-
Rashes.
-
Nausea.
-
Diarrhea.
-
Bloating.
It feels like backtracking, but it’s actually progress. Your body is coming online.
That’s healing.
The Mindset Shift You Need
This is why I say miracles are immediate, healing takes time.
Because you need both.
-
Aim for the miracle. Yes—big shifts can happen overnight.
-
But expect the journey. Healing takes time, patience, and persistence.
When you accept that truth, you trade frustration for hope. You stop asking, “Why am I not fixed yet?” and start seeing each step as progress.
The Power of Community and Guidance
Here’s another truth bomb: you can’t Google your way out of chronic illness.
You need perspective. You need someone to help you see the blind spots—the “vital voids” you’d never think of.
That’s why working with a practitioner changes the game. We help you see the hidden infections, the mold in your environment, the gut imbalances that no elimination diet will ever uncover.
Healing isn’t about chasing hacks. It’s about uncovering root causes.
Why This Matters for Future Generations
Here’s what fires me up the most: when YOU heal, you don’t just heal for you.
You heal for your kids. Your spouse. Your parents. Your community.
You model:
-
Healthy eating.
-
Safe body movement.
-
Resilient mindset.
You pass down wisdom instead of symptoms.
That ripple effect matters.
How Long Will It Take Me to Heal?
The million-dollar question.
Here’s the most honest answer you’ll ever hear: it depends.
It could take a month. It could take a year. For me, it took two years to feel like myself again. And now? I’m healthier than I’ve ever been.
-
No more anxiety.
-
No more depression.
-
Energy through the roof.
-
Medication-free.
Healing took time. But it was worth it.

Final Word: This Is NOT Your Practice Life
I’ll leave you with this:
This is not your practice life.
You don’t get a redo. You don’t get another shot at this body.
So stop wasting time guessing. Stop bouncing from one bandaid to another.
Start healing. For real.
Because miracles are immediate. But healing—healing is a journey worth every step.
