Do I need to treat H. Pylori on my GI Map if it wasn't high?
Have you ever taken an H. pylori test and found that your results weren't high, yet the presence of H. pylori was still there?
Are you wondering whether you should treat H. pylori if the numbers aren't high?
You're not alone. Tracy B. recently submitted this very question through our Ask Allison program, and today's blog post is all about finding the answers you may be searching for.
Understanding Your H. Pylori Test Results
If you're dealing with mystery symptoms and have undergone a GI Map test, you know how confusing it can be to interpret your H. pylori test results. Even if the levels aren't high, should you be concerned?
Based on my experience as a functional medicine practitioner, my recommendation is if you have any detectable levels of H. pylori on your GI Map, it should be treated. The key is not how high the numbers are, but that the presence of H. pylori could be contributing to symptoms you're experiencing.

Why Treat H. Pylori Even If It's Not High?
H. pylori can cause various health issues, even when not presenting at high levels. Leaving it untreated could lead to complications when attempting to improve stomach acid, as it might cause more problems by feeding H. pylori and leading to an increase in its levels.
Studies show that while some people with H. pylori experience no symptoms, for others, it can lead to acid reflux, ulcers, and gut health problems. The question then becomes, do you risk it?
The Importance of Comprehensive Health Testing
I can't stress enough the importance of additional testing for anyone undergoing treatment for H. pylori.
Our bodies can hold multiple pathogens simultaneously, and addressing these systematically is crucial for complete health restoration.
Testing for other issues like candida, mold, and C. diff, alongside running tests like the HTMA hair tissue mineral analysis, can provide you with a comprehensive picture of what's affecting your health.

Moving Toward Symptom Improvement
For those struggling with severe symptoms, the solution isn't as simple as focusing solely on treating H. pylori. Many clients undergo significant detox and symptom relief when implementing a targeted H. pylori protocol and addressing other underlying issues.
The end goal? Achieve sustainable and complete symptom improvement by not only addressing H. pylori, but considering your whole body's immune system and other potential underlying causes.
Whether you're Tracy or someone else battling these same questions, you are not alone. Seek comprehensive diagnostic testing and professional guidance to maximize your health potential and achieve the symptom relief you're seeking.
