261// My HTMA re-test changed a lot! How do I interpret it?

April 24, 2025

Your HTMA Hair Sample Results

Lynne recently received her second HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) results and felt unsure about what changes to make to her protocol. Even after watching analysis videos, she needed confirmation and confidence in understanding her new lab retest correctly. This is a common scenario for those who are new to functional lab tests or have been using heavy metal testing for their health journey.

Inside our Better Belly Blueprint, we emphasize being your best healer through guided lab interpretation and analysis, ultimately saving time and money. With this approach, Lynne is learning to understand her body's needs and how to make intelligent adjustments to her nutrient protocols.

Diving Deeper into the HTMA Hair Test

Here’s what we discovered with Lynne's retest:

  • Mercury levels were initially higher after she had her mercury dental fillings removed. It's not unusual for heavy metals like mercury to temporarily rise as the body begins detoxifying naturally. The HTMA hair sample provides insights into how the healing process is progressing.
  • We also noted changes in other mineral levels. For example, Lynne's calcium levels showed a positive drop suggesting that her body is balancing out, thanks to interventions like MK-7 for calcium regulation.
  • Nutrient tests aren’t always straightforward. For instance, while Lynne was supplementing with magnesium, her test results showed a decrease, indicating her body was becoming more efficient in utilizing it. It’s essential to understand that taking supplements doesn't always correlate with higher readings on these lab tests.

How to Respond to HTMA Results

With the insights from the HTMA hair sample, we recommended adjusting her supplement routine. Changes like pausing certain supplements or modifying dosages can be crucial. It's important not to push the body too hard or too fast into detoxing, especially with heavy metals.
