Is Your Sickness Biological, Psychological, or Spiritual?
Have you ever asked yourself...
"WHY am I sick? And why can't I seem to fix it?"
I have. And let me tell you right now:
It's not always just biology.
Most doctors won’t tell you this. They hand you a diagnosis, slap on a prescription, and send you out the door. But if that worked, wouldn’t you already feel better?
Yeah. I thought so.
Let’s blow the lid off this half-truth.
Because if you’re not getting better, it’s not your fault.
The Real Root Causes of Illness: Beyond Biology
When I was in 6th grade, I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety. I remember sitting there wondering:
Where did this come from?
My life wasn’t tragic. I had everything I "should" need to be okay. Yet, I wasn’t. That single moment cracked open a lifelong question I now help my clients explore:
Is your sickness biological, psychological, or spiritual?
Let’s bust a myth right now:
Your diagnosis is not your destiny.
Even if your parents had mental illness... Even if your labs scream "autoimmune disease"... Even if your doctor says "this is just how your body works"
You are not stuck.
Biology Isn't a Life Sentence
Yes, your biology matters. But it’s not permanent.
- Your DNA is not a dictator.
- It's a manual.
- It responds to your environment.
Bruce Lipton nails this in The Biology of Belief. He shows how your beliefs, stress levels, and emotional state can literally flip your genes ON or OFF.
This is called epigenetics.
So yes, you may have been dealt a certain genetic hand. But how you play it? That's up to you.
I’ve watched autoimmune clients go into remission. I’ve helped women with IBS go from food fear to food freedom. Your body can change.
But first, you need to stop asking just, "What pill do I take?"
And start asking:
What's really driving this breakdown?

Psychological Roots: When It's Not "All in Your Head"
Let’s get real:
How many times has a doctor told you, "It’s just stress"?
You walk out of the office feeling dismissed, invalidated, maybe even ashamed.
Let me say it loud for the people in the back:
Psychological doesn’t mean fake.
If your thoughts, trauma, and emotions are impacting your health?
That doesn’t mean you’re crazy. It means you’re human.
Emotions affect biology.
Candace Pert proved this in Molecules of Emotion. She found literal emotional chemicals—neurotransmitters, peptides—stored in our cells, organs, and tissues.
That anger you stuffed down? That trauma you never processed? That fear you’re living in every day?
Your body is listening.
And it’s responding.
But here’s the power move:
Your brain is plastic. Your thought patterns can change.
Want to heal your gut? Your brain might be the place to start.
My Personal Psychological Pivot
In 2015, my gut broke down. And I started to wonder:
Did I cause this?
Spoiler: No. But my unprocessed stress, trauma, and shame absolutely played a role.
Here’s the truth no one told me:
- You don’t heal with more willpower.
- You heal with strategy, support, and self-compassion.
I had to rewire how I thought about myself, my body, and my worth. And when I did?
My gut began to heal.
This is the stuff your gastroenterologist is NOT talking about.
But it’s the stuff that moves the needle.
What If It's Spiritual?
Okay. Deep breath.
We’re going there.
Spiritual health is the missing piece most practitioners ignore.
But for me? It was the game-changer.
When I got sick, I didn’t just ask what was broken. I asked...
What is this here to teach me?
If that sounds woo to you, hear me out:
- Spiritual beliefs shape how we see suffering.
- They affect how we view our worth.
- They inform what we believe is POSSIBLE.
If you believe your life is just biology and behavior, then illness becomes your identity.
But if you believe you were made on purpose, for a purpose?
You start seeing your body as worth healing.
And healing becomes possible.
My Back, My Gut, and a Divine Whisper
One Sunday, I felt a nudge to have someone pray over my back. Strange, right? My pain was in my gut.
Years later, I learned about the mesenteric root. It anchors your intestines to your spine. It carries blood, lymph, and nerve signals.
When it's restricted? Your gut can collapse.
So yes, what I thought was a "random" spiritual moment was actually a deep biological insight I didn’t yet have the science to understand.
Sometimes, healing starts in the spirit before it shows up in the body.

Biology. Psychology. Spirituality. Which One Is It?
TRICK QUESTION.
It’s all of them.
And your path to healing will probably touch all three.
When I work with clients, we go deep:
- We analyze labs and look for the missing pieces other practitioners missed.
- We assess nervous system dysregulation and how stress is showing up in their gut.
- We identify the beliefs that are blocking their biology from shifting.
Because the truth is...
Miracles are immediate. But healing takes time.
I believe you deserve more than another diet. More than another supplement stack. More than another doctor shrugging and saying, "You're fine."
You deserve a roadmap. You deserve support. You deserve to feel seen, heard, and HEALED.
