Is Iodine Deficiency causing your constipation or hypothyroidism?
You’ve tried magnesium.
You’ve chugged fiber.
You’ve cut gluten.
Still bloated? Still constipated? Still exhausted by 3 PM?
It’s not just “stress” or “getting older.”
And it’s DEFINITELY not that you need another over-the-counter laxative.
The real reason might be hiding in your thyroid — and your thyroid might be screaming for something most doctors are ignoring:
Iodine.
Yes, iodine. The forgotten mineral. The one that used to be in our food. The one your thyroid literally cannot function without.
If you're dealing with:
- Chronic fatigue
- Brain fog
- Constipation or bloating
- Weight gain
- Hypothyroid symptoms
...then keep reading. Because iodine deficiency may be the root cause you've never been told to check.
Why the Thyroid Matters in Gut Health
When your thyroid slows down, everything slows down — especially your digestion.
You get sluggish bowel movements.
You feel heavy, foggy, and inflamed.
You gain weight while eating less.
This is what I call the slow-down spiral.
Your thyroid controls your metabolic rate. That means how fast or slow your gut processes food, how well your liver detoxes hormones, and how efficiently you burn calories.
If your thyroid is under-functioning — even just a little — your gut takes the hit. This shows up as:
- Bloating after meals
- Constipation that won’t budge
- Estrogen dominance (which creates more gut havoc)
- Sluggish liver detox
- Weight gain and brain fog that never go away
And you might think, “Well, my labs are normal.”
But here’s the kicker — most thyroid panels are a joke.
Why Normal Thyroid Labs Don’t Mean You’re Okay
Your doctor might test TSH. Maybe T4. But they rarely test:
- Total T3
- Reverse T3
- Thyroid antibodies
And those are the markers that matter.
Let me say that again: You can have “normal” thyroid labs and still have thyroid dysfunction.
What most doctors miss?
The building blocks — like iodine.
You literally can’t make T4 and T3 (your thyroid hormones) without it.
So if you're experiencing:
- Brain fog
- Fatigue
- Cold hands and feet
- Thinning hair
- Dry skin
- Hormonal symptoms (like PMS, fibroids, or endometriosis)
...then iodine deficiency should be on your radar.

Iodine Deficiency Symptoms You’re Probably Missing
We’ve been brainwashed to think that because salt is iodized, iodine deficiency is extinct.
Wrong.
Here’s what you might feel if you’re low on iodine:
- Bloating
- Constipation
- Weight gain
- Brain fog
- Fatigue or chronic fatigue
- Cold sensitivity
- Slowed heart rate
- Dry skin
- Hair thinning
- Trouble detoxing estrogen (hello PMS and hormonal chaos)
And if you're dealing with hypothyroidism or even suspected low thyroid — you can't afford to overlook this.
Iodine deficiency doesn’t just affect your gut or your thyroid.
It disrupts your ENTIRE metabolic ecosystem.
Why Iodized Salt Isn’t Helping You
Iodine in salt sounds good in theory. But most iodized salt is:
- Chemically manufactured
- Poorly absorbed
- Paired with anti-caking agents and toxins
So even if you’re using “enough salt,” your body might not be getting the iodine it needs.
And get this — to avoid goiters, the RDA for iodine is just 150 mcg.
That’s the minimum to prevent a swollen thyroid.
Not the dose to thrive.
It’s like saying a sip of water a day keeps you hydrated. 🙄
You need REAL iodine. From iodine-rich foods. From clean, bioavailable supplements — and only if your body actually needs it.
But Isn’t Iodine Dangerous?
Here’s where the controversy kicks in.
Some studies show that high-dose iodine raises thyroid antibodies. Others link it to thyroid cancer.
So what’s the truth?
The reality is this: Iodine is powerful. And powerful things must be used correctly.
Just like vitamin D or iron — too much without monitoring can be harmful.
That’s why any iodine protocol must include:
- Necessity — Do you actually need iodine?
- Knowledge — What are your iodine and thyroid levels?
- Nourishment — Are you supporting your body with co-factors and detox?
You don't guess with iodine.
You assess.
And I teach you exactly how to do that in my Iodine Protocol.
The Tests That Actually Work (Blood Tests Aren’t It)
Blood and urine tests for iodine? Not reliable.
Your iodine levels can spike after eating an egg.
Or look “normal” while your cells are starving.
Here’s what works better:
- HTMA (Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis) — Shows cellular mineral patterns
- Full Thyroid Panel — Includes total T3, reverse T3, and antibodies
- DUTCH Hormone Test (optional) — Shows estrogen detox pathways linked to iodine
These tests together give you the full picture.
In my protocol, I walk you step-by-step through interpreting them, combining results, and determining if iodine is right for you.
And I don’t stop there. I also tell you:
- Exactly what supplements to take
- In what dose
- For how long
- With what cofactors
You’ll know if you need it. And how to do it safely.

What If You’re NOT Iodine Deficient?
Here’s a wild stat:
99% of the time when I run iodine assessments for clients…
The real problem isn’t iodine. It’s the liver.
Why?
Because your liver converts T4 (inactive thyroid hormone) into T3 (active thyroid hormone).
So if your liver is bogged down by toxins, mold, gut bugs, or hormone overload?
You won't convert enough T3.
Your energy tanks.
Your digestion stalls.
Your brain fogs up.
The symptoms are nearly identical to iodine deficiency — but the fix is very different.
If iodine isn't your root cause, the Five Toxin Trap probably is. That’s my free training that covers the top hidden reasons behind sluggish thyroids, bloating, and fatigue.
Iodine High Foods (And Why They’re Not Enough)
Can you just eat iodine-rich foods instead?
Sure — they help!
But most people need more.
Still, here are some iodine high foods you can add in today:
- Seaweed (kelp, nori, wakame)
- Cod and tuna
- Eggs (especially yolks)
- Dairy (if tolerated)
- Cranberries
- Shrimp
These are great for mild iodine support.
But if your levels are truly low, food alone won’t cut it. You need a strategic, dosed protocol — not random guesses.
So... Do You Need Iodine?
Here’s how to find out:
- Do you struggle with bloating, constipation, or fatigue?
- Have you been diagnosed with hypothyroidism or suspect you might have it?
- Do you have symptoms like weight gain, brain fog, or cold sensitivity?
- Have you tried "natural constipation relief" and gotten nowhere?
If you said YES to 2 or more — it’s time to dig deeper.
I’ve created a comprehensive, self-guided protocol so you can:
✅ Test your own iodine and thyroid levels
✅ Know exactly what’s off (and what’s not)
✅ Get access to the safest, most effective iodine supplements
✅ Learn how to dose correctly — without triggering symptoms
✅ Know if your issue is iodine, liver, or something else entirely
You don’t need another guess.
You need a guide.

Take the Shortcut to Clarity
I’ve been there.
I had the constipation, the thinning hair, the brain fog, the mystery symptoms doctors dismissed.
I wasted years on bandaids and “maybe try this.”
Until I figured out the root cause.
Until I found the missing piece — and created the protocol I now use with clients every day.
You can do it too.
